FireFox locks up and Freezes

Recently I have been getting a problem with the new Firefox 2.0 install whereby
when I started the browser and clicked on a link, favourite etc, firefox
would just hang and be totally locked up and had to be killed in the task manager.
It seems that there is a probem with dual core AMD machines and potentially
hyperthreaded Intels trying to use multi-processors causing the freeze.
The simple solution is to use Compatibility mode. Just right click the firefox shortcut and
choose properties, the go to the Compatibility tab and Select Windows 98 / Windows Me.
Since these OS do not support multi core processors the problem then disappears.
